100 Feet Sci-Fi Air Date & Region 2 DVD Release
100 Feet will be debuting in the US on the Sci-Fi Channel on April 26 at 9 pm. The film will also be seeing a DVD release in the UK on March 2nd.
Barkin, Janssen set for ‘Chameleon’ roles
From UPI:
Ellen Barkin and Famke Janssen have been cast in French director Jean Paul Salome’s psychological thriller, “The Chameleon,” The Hollywood Reporter said.
Co-starring Nick Stahl and Emilie de Ravin, the film will mark the English-language debuts of both Salome — who co-wrote the script — and French-Canadian actor Marc-Andre Grondin.
The movie is about what happens when a young man is reunited with his family after being positively identified in an unsolved missing-persons case, but suspicions arise about his true identity, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
The film is loosely based on a New Yorker article called “The Chameleon: The Many Lives of Frederic Bourdin,” which was about an actual person who assumed at least 39 identities, three of them missing teens.

“The L Word” Spin-Off
From ET Online:
“The L Word” premieres its final season Sunday, but it may not be the end of the road for the entire cast, as Showtime tells ET that a spinoff pilot has been shot that is “a substantially different show,” according to the cable network’s entertainment president Robert Greenblatt.
“We have been mysterious about the concept,” continues Greenblatt. “One of the characters from ‘The L Word’ actually goes to prison. The show then goes to prison with a largely new cast. I would say it is not only lesbian characters; it is a big group of characters.”
Although the “women in prison” genre in film and on television has been known for its campy value, the new show promises “a grittier look; it is not as dark as ‘Oz.’”
Greenblatt adds that the spinoff is anchored by Leisha Hailey, who plays bisexual NPR journalist Alice Pieszecki on “The L Word,” and there are three guest stars in the pilot: Melissa Leo, Famke Janssen and Laurie Metcalf.
“Whether they continue in the series, we don’t know yet,” says Greenblatt.
From Zap 2 It, on Famke’s Character:
Another new inmate who appears in the pilot is Famke Janssen.
“Her character Valentina is in for racketeering, drugs and assault — gang-related,” says Chaiken.
100 Feet To Debut On Sci-Fi Channel
From Fangoria:
FANGORIA has learned that two high-profile genre features, Simon (DEAD OF NIGHT) Hunter’s THE MUTANT CHRONICLES and Eric (BODY PARTS) Red’s 100 FEET, have been acquired for broadcast on the Sci Fi Channel, largely bypassing theatrical exposure. MUTANT CHRONICLES will likely air in June 2009, with 100 FEET set for around the same period.
If an indie company comes along at the 11th hour, 100 FEET may find a few big-screen playdates prior to its Sci Fi debut. The story of a woman terrorized by the ghost of her abusive husband stars Famke (X-MEN) Janssen, Michael (FURNACE) Paré and Ed (GOSSIP GIRL) Westwick. “This is tragic, and the film deserved better,” Red tells Fango. “There were two domestic theatrical distribution offers on 100 FEET, including Magnolia. Ghost House also really wanted to take the picture. A Sci Fi Channel release down the line is great—it’s a fine network—but this film deserves a commercial shot in the theaters.
“It is doubly disappointing,” he continues, “because the film played well in its several festival screenings and the audiences were very responsive. What is so maddening is we had distributors ready to release the film theatrically. It came down to continuous financial mismanagement by the producers, them wanting to make a few more bucks and not doing what was best for the film. I fought very hard for months to get everyone to do the right thing, but ultimately I don’t own the negative. I hope that over time, people discover 100 FEET, as they have my other films, which usually had to overcome distribution issues.”

Struggles facing women focus of actress’ forum
From NewsOK:
Actress Famke Janssen led an acting workshop Friday at the Oklahoma Memorial Union hours before she planned to discuss more serious topics, including human trafficking and women’s equality.
Janssen, best known for the X-Men action trilogy and the James Bond movie “Goldeneye,” is in Oklahoma to commemorate United Nations Day.
The Dutch-born actress was named a United Nations goodwill ambassador in February.
She looked forward to joining Jill Irvine, director of the OU women’s studies program, and Zach Messitte, OU vice provost for international programs, in raising awareness on U.N. goals for improving the plight of women around the world.
“Zach and Jill are better equipped talking about the subjects, but I hope to bring in bigger crowds,” Janssen said after posing for pictures and signing autographs following the acting workshop.
Janssen, Irvine and Messitte discussed women’s issues, including human trafficking, Friday night during a dinner at the university.
They plan to have a similar discussion at noon today at the Faculty House restaurant, 601 NE 14 St. in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma ties
Though Janssen lives in New York, her boyfriend is from Oklahoma.
During this visit, Janssen said she will scout possible set locations for a movie she plans to direct sometime next year.
The movie’s working title is “Bringing Up Bobby,” but Janssen declined to reveal much about the film’s plot.
